Scholarship Day was initiated at Research College of Nursing in 2004 as an opportunity to celebrate the scholarly work of students, faculty and alumni of the College. This event is grounded in the College’s commitment to excellence in nursing education by providing an atmosphere conducive to the development of scholarship. The Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Upsilon Tau Chapter shares this commitment and is a co-sponsor of this event. Scholarship Day was renamed the Bobbie Siler Scholarship Day in the spring of 2007. Dr. Siler, former Associate Dean of Research College of Nursing, was the driving force behind the development of Scholarship Day. The committee renamed the event in honor of her hard work and dedication to nursing education and the continuance of scholarly work at the College. Scholarship Day occurs every April on a Friday. Attendance is mandatory for all undergraduate students. Students have an opportunity to submit proposals for poster and oral presentations in November. Each year undergraduate and graduate students present research through these presentations.
